My new friend

I won this awesome photo printer off of eBay a couple days ago. It prints 4x6 and 5x7 and can also do panoramic pics--basically I can print anything up to 5 inches wide. I can also use cardstock in it if it is cut to the correct size. I have been using Mom's printer (4x6 only) to do some scrappiness--mostly I type out text for my layouts and print it onto cardstock. I don't like the look of my handwriting, so this is a total upgrade!! Now I just have to figure out where to buy 5x7 photo paper!!!

AND...I only paid $40 for it (including shipping). It looks like a little boombox when it is not in use. The sides pop open when you turn it on. It even has a remote control. Which is dumb. But it has one!! And I can get refill ink on eBay for only $8.99!!

What style is this? I get to use something similar to this for Worldwin but it hasn't showed up yet... I know mine is an Epson. Hmm. I wonder if it'll come today?

This is an HP 475. I searched on twopeas message boards for "5x7 printer", and this was all that came up. I just got it in the mail yesterday, but I printed out a couple things and it is great. It works on cardstock as long as I am sure to make it exatcly 4 or 5 inches wide--I tried to use one piece that was like 4.75 inches wide and it kept spitting the paper back out and saying it was the wrong size. The printer of Mom's that I am borrowing will take any paper--it doesn't check the size and assumes you know what you are doing. I really liked that because I could use smaller scraps of paper to print text onto, but it couldn't do anything bigger than 4x6 so I am still happier with this printer.
I figure I will rarely use pictures bigger than 5x7 on layouts, and I can just run over to Bartell's and get those printed when I need them, or CostCo. I am re-trying to get back to scrapping. I have such a creative block when it comes to scrapping--I have no confidence in my ability to tell when something looks good, and I cannot do random. Random circles or buttons or whatever. It has to be evenly spaced. I see random and it looks great, but I cannot do it myself. Gotta be structured. I am trying to break myself of that, but it takes me seriously hours to do just one layout.

Can you print a wallet?

Yes, you can print all sorts of sizes. It can do passport size, even proof sheets and has a sticker setting. It also has a 1gb (I think.....might be 2) hard drive for storing pictures. They really tout that it is portable, can be run on a battery and taken with you.

Seems like a smokin' deal then. I wonder how often you have to replace the ink.

Okay, more questions on this printer. If I had already downloaded my photos on my computer, and then deleted them from my memory card, would there still be a way to print them? This might make the perfect gift for Steve's parents....

Are you asking if there is a way to get the pictures from the computer to this printer without using a memory card?? It can connect directly to your computer if you want it to (if the pictures are there), or you can use a variety of memory cards and get pictures from them. Once I stick a memory card into the printer, it gives me the option of saving some or all of them onto it's own little hard drive, so I could save pics there and print them out later even if I have already deleted the memory card.

Does that answer your question???
