Can I just say how excited I am, not even having looked at this yet, that you scanned in something you drew with your own hands, instead of using some fancy program that would take me too long to figure out! Thank you.

So, when you first walk in, you either need to turn right, where there's a door, go down stairs, which is straight ahead, or turn left? Is there a spot straight ahead next to the staircase where you can put a decorative..... table or some other wall-hugging unit... or a coatrack?

I would say that's the only downside to the entry... no coat closet. You'll need to find a hall tree, so that people can take off their coats, and discard their shoes.

okay, when you first walk in, in the center of that entry is a banister, and you either go to the left of it and up 6 steps, or to the right of it and down six steps. There are no doors to either way. We will put a coat rack on the far right part of the entry for coats, and we have decided that this will be a no-shoes house, and there is plenty of space to leave them at the door.

Yes, split entry. Very cool!
