I should probably mention the bikes. Ethan’s vivid memory of Amsterdam included all the bike traffic, and he fact that they are *everywhere*, and that THEY (not pedestrians) have the right-of-way. We walked very, very cautiously, looking both ways before practically every steps. No close calls, but we were taking no chances!! By the time we left Amsterdam, we were pros and walked with confidence--even when we didn’t have the helpful little green man light telling us to go.
